Sofya Adamyan

Sofya was born and raised in Stepanakert, Artsakh. She worked at Gharabagh Telecom for 28 years while embroidery remained her hobby, and she often made handmade gifts for her friends.

After the war, she moved to Yerevan, Armenia. At first, she worked as a manager in the aesthetic medicine industry. Later, after the company closed, she worked at Telcell, but the job did not feel right for her. She eventually decided to focus on her embroidery skills and turn her passion into a full-time business. She happily joined Rootsmade with the aim to grow her business and reach a wider audience.

The integration into the Armenian community was not easy. She had no home, no stable income, and had to adapt to a very different environment. In Artsakh, she had lived in a close-knit community where everyone knew one another. The Hadrout Center played an important role in helping her, giving her a sense of home and community.

She believes her work will be appreciated by Armenians both locally and internationally who want to bring a piece of Armenian heritage into their homes. What she loves most about her work is the love and care she puts into every piece. For her, the most rewarding part of her work is seeing people’s appreciation and knowing that it brought joy to their homes.
